Jason Vanderee found it challenging to ignore the sobs and stern words of the families of his victims during his sentencing on Thursday morning or the implications of his deeds.
The now-32-year-old Vanderee went behind the wheel of his mother’s car, shot himself up with heroin, and swerved into the Route 23 Delta gas station in Wayne, murdering three people. On February 19, 2019, the cold, crystalline stillness was shattered.
According to state Superior Court Judge Marilyn Clark, the families of Jon Warbeck, his 17-year-old son Luke, and gas station employee Lovedeep Fatra are the “living victims” who will have to endure their “unbearable losses” forever.
Gina Warbeck will keep getting out of bed in the middle of the night to enter Luke’s room, where she will hold the pillows she knitted from his clothes and sob.
