It is with great sadness that we share that Janie passed away peacefully at home on Thursday.
Janie McDonald Obituary:
Ina Jane “Janie” Carpenter McDonald was born August 4, 1939 in Lamesa, Texas. She was the daughter of James Alton and Inez (Whitaker) Carpenter.
She graduated from high school in Great Bend, Kansas and then earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education at Emporia State University. She later earned her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Kansas State University.
On May 29, 1960, she was united in marriage to John Cameron McDonald in Emporia, Kansas.
Janie had a long career teaching in elementary education in Abilene, Concordia, Jamestown, and El Dorado school districts.
Janie was an active member of PEO, an avid quilter, gardener and a very proud mother and grandmother.
Janie passed away peacefully at home in Overland Park, Kansas on April 20, 2023.
She is survived by her sons Patrick McDonald and his wife Nikki of Olathe, Kansas, Paul McDonald and his wife Kristine of Overland Park, Kansas, brother Clayton Carpenter and his wife Carolyn of Clyde, Texas, Sister-In-Law Linda Carpenter of Abilene, Texas, Sister-In-Law Marilyn Robbins and her husband Dick of Topeka, Kansas, many nieces and nephews, as well as three grandsons – Wyatt, Owen, and Jackson McDonald. She was preceded in death by her loving husband John of 62 years, brother Gary Carpenter and her parents.
