One fatality has been reported as a result of a collision on Sunday afternoon involving I-94 and the Red River Bridge in Moorhead. The crash, which occurred at 11:30 a.m., involved two cars, according to police.
The first vehicle had two occupants, one of whom had passed away, and was a 2015 Chevy Malibu. Shalie Lipp, a 21-year-old from Breckenridge, Minnesota, has been named as the victim. Lipp, an MMA fighter, was scheduled to compete in the No Mercy XI match on Saturday, May 20, at the Holiday Inn in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.
According to the accident report, Lipp was the only individual in the crash who was not wearing a seat belt. She was riding in a car driven by Joseph Trottier, a 35-year-old West Fargo resident.
The other vehicle, a 2017 Jeep Cherokee, was carrying three passengers. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, nobody inside this car was wounded.
The Malibu and the Jeep collided when both vehicles were going east on I-94, according to the police. The freeway was closed on Sunday for a portion of the day while workers cleaned up the area. The accident is currently under investigation.
The announcement of Lipp’s tragic and sudden death was flooded by heartfelt tributes and condolences across social media. She will be sorely missed.

She was full of life and energy and the times I was privileged to talk to her, she was very professional and kind. Please keep her family and friends in your heart and prayers.
