Matt Davis Obituary – Death: Keene Sonic worker killed by 12-year-old with AR-15 rifle in Johnson County.
In a little Johnson County village on Saturday night, a terrible murder occurred. After repeatedly shooting a Sonic employee with an AR-15 weapon, a 12-year-old boy was taken into custody.
People who did not know the victim came to Keene to pay their respects as a result of the incident. For the family of 32-year-old Matt Davis, Jen Baggett of Keene said she felt prompted to start this memorial with a cross.
According to Keene police, several people contacted 911 on Saturday night just before 10 o’clock to report gunfire in the Sonic parking lot.
Police said that everything began when Fort Worth resident Angel Gomez, 20, and others arrived at the Sonic in his car. According to reports, Gomez started urinating in the back parking lot, so Davis went outside to talk to him.
After a quarrel between the two, the 12-year-old shooting suspect, who was a passenger, allegedly took the AR-15 gun from Gomez’s car and shot Davis several times. Later, he passed away at a hospital.
According to the police, Gomez fled with the AR-15 before coming back and being apprehended. Likewise, the 12-year-old took off.
He was discovered with many weapons at a residence in Rio Vista by the Keene police and neighboring agencies.
For leaving the scene with the AR-15, Gomez is accused of tampering with the evidence. According to the police, the charge might be changed to murder.
