A woman was found lying in the road on the southern end of McMinn County, Tennessee, after being stabbed. Authorities are currently searching for the perpetrator and the victim is currently recovering from her injuries.
According to a statement from McMinn County Sheriff Joe Guy, a woman was discovered lying on County Road 725. Sheriff’s volunteer public service units administered emergency measures until deputies, detectives, and emergency personnel arrived on the scene. The statement was dated Wednesday.
“As the investigation got underway, the female victim was identified as Diamond Natasha Young, 24, of Madisonville,” Guy said in the statement. “She was transported to a regional hospital for further treatment. This is believed to be an isolated incident.”
Guy praised the actions of volunteer unit members Barry Toomey and Chris Nunley. “They made a difference, and they are to be commended,” he said.
According to the sheriff, the investigation is still ongoing. The public is being urged by Detective Jared Price of the Sheriff’s Office to come forward with any information regarding the incident. Those with information can contact the department’s detective division at 423-745-5620.
