Scott Higgins Obituary News: 19-year-old employee identified as victim in fatal Marathon’s Texas City refinery fire.
Officials from Marathon Petroleum have identified the victim as Scott Higgins, a 19-year employee who died in a Monday refinery fire in Texas City.
The fire also sent two contractors to the hospital.
According to a preliminary investigation from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, the fire, which was started at 9:30 a.m. and lasted for four hours, was brought on by a leaking pump. The organization calculated that thousands of pounds of hazardous substances were released into the air as a result of the incident.
