Nova Dunn Obituary NH: In loving memory of Southside Middle School student who jumped to death from the Huse Road overpass onto Interstate 293.
According to numerous unnamed reports, a 14-year-old Southside Middle School student in Manchester perished on Wednesday after jumping from the Huse Road overpass onto Interstate 293.
Jenn Gillis, the superintendent of Manchester schools, said the following to district families in an email on Wednesday night: “It is with great sadness that we inform you that one of our students has passed away unexpectedly.”
As said by Gillis, “This loss may raise many emotions, concerns, and questions for our entire school community, especially for our students.”
Because of this, according to district spokesman Andrew Toland, counselors from other Manchester schools and the state Disaster Behavior Health Response Team spent Thursday at the school “directly impacted” by the loss.
“Our focus in the coming days and weeks is to be supportive of our students, families, and staff,” said Toland.
The student is thought to have attempted suicide, according to numerous sources.
Teenagers are more likely than ever to attempt suicide, but anyone struggling with suicidal thoughts can get support. The Suicide and Crisis Lifeline can be reached at 988 for immediate assistance. You can also text “Hello” to 741741, the number for the Crisis Text Line.
At the Huse Road overpass, which spans I-293 just east of the Mall of New Hampshire, a fatality occurred. To protect people from falling off, there is chain-link fencing around the bridge.
