Lewis Hamilton Bio
Sir Lewis Hamilton was born in January 1985 in Stevenage, England. His father, Anthony, is of Caribbean descent, making Lewis the first F1 driver with Afro-Caribbean heritage. He has one younger brother, Nicolas, who, despite having cerebral palsy, also has become a racing driver.
Lewis Hamilton Career
As with all successful race drivers, Lewis Hamilton started his career in karting where he quickly proved himself to be one of the most talented among his contemporaries. He quickly won his first title in 1995, followed by two more in 1996 and 1997.
By the early 2000s, Hamilton stepped up to race cars and won his first title in his third Formula Renault UK season. The Brit then continued moving upwards, winning F3 in 2005 and GP2 in 2006.
This earnt him an F1 drive for 2007, starting out at front-running McLaren and coming close to winning the world championship in his first season. He got the job done by the following year beating Felpe Massa in the final race of the season.
After a run of mediocre cars, Hamilton moved to Mercedes for 2013 and began a run of six world titles in seven years starting in 2014.
As is always the case with long runs of success in Formula 1, or any sport for that matter, Hamilton’s reign as the undisputed F1 world champion came to an end in 2021 when he was pipped on the final lap of the final race of the season, in controversial circumstances.
Since then, a new king has risen to the throne at the top of the sport, Max Verstappen as Hamilton’s Mercedes team have struggled to keep up with the pace of his rival’s Red Bull. Despite this, the Brit continues to enjoy a lot of popularity and can never be ruled out of contention for race wins due to his unrivalled records and ability to take advantage of favourable conditions and circumstances.
With this success, Hamilton continues to enjoy strong odds ahead of many race weekends. For example, ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix in late May, the Brit had similar odds to the Ferrari driver of Carlos Sainz, despite being in an objectively slower car and was also ahead of his younger teammate.
The Formula 1 betting markets have exploded in popularity in recent years as the sport has engaged in a campaign to grow the sport in the United States and all around the world. As a result, sites like OddsChecker have seen a significant increase in the number of people looking to use free bet offers on F1 markets, particularly in that expanding US market.
