Madeline Kingsbury Obituary / Adam Fravel Arrest: Father of Madeline Kingsbury’s children, arrested after human remains discovered.
The father of Madeline Kingsbury’s two children has been arrested following the discovery of human remains, more than two months after the 27-year-old went missing in southern Minnesota.
On the jail roster page of the Winona County Sheriff’s Office, Adam Fravel, 29, was noted as being detained on suspicion of second-degree murder as of Wednesday evening.
Announcing the discovery of human remains earlier in the day “in some brush off Highway 43” close to the town of Mabel, which is located approximately an hour south of Winona and close to the border with Iowa, the Winona Police Department made the announcement on Wednesday night. Investigators focused their attention on the region as early as April.
Working to identify the remains is the Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner’s Office at the moment.
After putting off her kids, ages 2 and 5, at daycare on March 31, Kingsbury vanished. Her Winona house, where she kept all of her possessions, including her phone and money, was also where the vehicle she used to travel was discovered.
His disappearance was initially described by investigators as “suspicious” and “involuntary.”
Two weeks after Kingsbury vanished, on April 12, Fravel vehemently denied any participation. He claimed that after dropping off the children, he drove away from her house in a blue minivan, and when he came back, she was gone.
I have cooperated with law enforcement at every turn over the past 12 days, including by agreeing to several interviews with Winona County law police. Maddi’s absence has nothing to do with me. My 5-year-old and 2-year-old’s mother needs to be located and returned safely. More than anything, that is what I desire,” Fravel added in the statement.
The children were first placed in the county’s care until a court ordered that they be placed in “relative foster care” with their grandparents. On Monday, Fravel petitioned for custody of their kids. The demand of Fravel was declined.
Late on Wednesday night, Megan Kingsbury, Kingsbury’s sister, sent a video statement to social media in which she said, in part: “The whirlwind is just starting all over again. There is absolutely a bright side to this. We are relieved that Fravel is in custody and is no longer roaming the streets free.
