The man who was killed on Merle Hay Road on Friday morning after a semi-truck strayed into the wrong lane and struck his Nissan sedan had been named by police.
According to information provided by Sgt. Paul Parizek of the Des Moines Police Department on Friday afternoon, first responders arrived on the scene near the 3800 block of Merle Hay Road at about 8:23 a.m. after responding to reports of a collision with injuries.
Chad Kevin Lentz, a 50-year-old resident of Ankeny, was pronounced dead at the site, and the semi-truck’s 55-year-old Newton driver was taken to the hospital. The individual, according to Parizek, “appeared to be suffering from a medical event” and was sent to the hospital in “critical condition.”
