Dennis Robertson Obituary News: 40-Year-Old Man with Disabilities Found dead after Been locked in Basement by Caretakers
According to authorities, two people are being charged with neglect after the person they were supposed to be caring for was discovered dead in their house.
On May 19, according to the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a residence on Whitfield Walk to check on a man who was not breathing. When they got there, they discovered Dennis Robertson, 40, dead in the basement of the house.
Robertson was disabled and unable to care for himself, according to the investigators. According to them, Robertson was mainly kept in a single basement room with a door that was shut from the outside.
The interior of the house, according to deputies who arrived on the scene, was “extremely filthy,” “unkempt,” and “horrific.”
Caretakers of Robertson, Michael Hammond, 46, and Lauri Parker, 59, have now been detained and accused of neglecting an adult with a disability.
In order to decide whether to press further charges against Hammond and Parker, investigators claim they are awaiting the complete autopsy report on Robertson.
This, according to the sheriff’s office, is one of the worst instances of negligence they have ever witnessed.
