Ilkhom Shodiev Car Accident Lathrop, CA: Amazon Big Rig driver dies after crash near the Interstate 5 freeway.
A structure in Lathrop near Interstate 5 was struck by an Amazon Big Rig on Thursday, killing the driver.
The driver’s death was confirmed on Friday by Christy Patterson, San Joaquin County Medical Examiner. Ilkhom Shodiev, a 37-year-old North Carolina resident, was the Big Rig driver.
Ilkhom Shodiev crashed into a structure while driving an Amazon big rig on I-5 in Lathrop between Highway 120 and East Lewis Avenue at about 12:48 in the morning.
California Highway Patrol Dispatch began receiving reports shortly after the collision alleging that shots had been fired prior to it. Ilkhom Shodiev was also shot multiple times while driving, according to the authorities, and was transferred to a local hospital where he passed away while receiving care.
It is now unknown who fired the rounds, what the shooting’s purpose was, and how the Amazon driver was involved, according to Reuben Jones, a spokesman for the California Highway Patrol.
It has been taken into custody for further investigation by the California Highway Patrol Valley Division Investigative Services Unit (ISU), which is now asking for assistance from the public to crack the case.
