An 18-year-old Battle Creek male was shot and murdered in the Lakeview neighborhood, according to police, and a 20-year-old Battle Creek man was later taken into custody.
Around eleven o’clock on Saturday night, the incident took place in the Burger King parking lot on West Columbia Avenue. Numerous calls were made to the Calhoun County Dispatch reporting a gunfire nearby.
Police added that once they arrived on the site, their K-9 unit was able to find and apprehend the culprit.
The suspect was discovered close to West Highland Boulevard and 30th Street. When looking for the suspect, Battle Creek police also discovered a firearm that had been abandoned.
According to Detective Sgt. Chris Rabbit, police believe that the two males involved knew one another and that the shooting was not accidental.
According to authorities, the 20-year-old suspect is currently being detained at the Calhoun County Jail on a number of counts, including open murder.
