Bay Bridge Motorcycle Accident: Two dead in crash on Bay Bridge upper deck in San Francisco.
The Thursday morning commute into San Francisco was halted due to police action following a disaster on the upper deck of the Bay Bridge late on Wednesday night that claimed two lives.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a big truck and a black Dodge Charger collided on westbound Interstate 80 just before Treasure Island at around 11:20 p.m.
According to CHP Officer Erica Tatum, the Dodge was speeding when it struck the large rig, which was moving at 15 mph. According to Tatum, the Dodge struck the back of the vehicle, killing the two occupants inside.
In order to conduct their investigation, CHP investigators blocked off four of the freeway’s five lanes for almost four hours, Tatum continued. Around 3:30 in the morning, all lanes reopened.
Tatum suggested that the large rig may have slowed down as a result of a three-vehicle crash that occurred five minutes earlier.
