Rankin, IL Car Accident: Three dead following two-car crash involving a stolen vehicle in Vermilion County.
In Vermilion County, a stolen car collided with another vehicle, killing three persons.
On Tuesday night, a collision occurred on Illinois Route 49 going north. The owner of a stolen 2005 Toyota Camry was reportedly traveling east on County Road 3550N, according to State Police. A 2016 Jeep Compass was also traveling north on Route 49 at the same moment. The Camry was traveling too quickly and ran through the intersection’s stop sign.
The driver and passenger of the Jeep were killed when the Camry collided with the vehicle’s driver’s side. The accident also claimed the life of the suspect.
For several hours, the road was closed while the mess was cleaned up. On Wednesday, around 1:30 a.m., it finally reopened.
