Matthew Berry Obituary News: 37-year-old Gold Coast Hinterland Father Found dead With Injuries to his Head and Upper Body, Investigation On-Going
In an effort to piece together what happened to the father-of-two from the Gold Coast hinterland, homicide investigators looking into the death of Matthew Berry are asking the public for help.
Just after noon on Thursday, emergency personnel were called to Mr. Berry’s Tamborine Mountain residence.
When police arrived, the 37-year-old was already dead and had injuries to his head and upper torso, according to Detective Inspector Chris Knight.
Inspector Knight noted that the initial scene “displayed plain signs of violence.”
“[Mr Berry] unfortunately passed away in his own house while caring for his two young children.
“We’re asking for help from the public to try and identify the person or persons accountable for this matter.”
According to Inspector Knight, Mr. Berry’s ex-partner discovered him after calling the house when she hadn’t heard from him in a few days.
In order to investigate Mr. Berry’s death, police have set up Operation Victor-Cultivate, and a crime scene at his residence is still in place with specialized scientific and forensic personnel scrutinizing the area.
There will be a significant police presence in that Tamborine region for the duration of today and at least the next few days, according to Detective Inspector Knight.
He stated that between the hours of dawn and dusk on Wednesday, officers will be knocking on doors in the neighborhood and attempting to piece together what occurred at and close to the address.
