After an apparent murder-suicide, a married couple was discovered dead with gunshot wounds in their house in Cache County on Wednesday by their 16-year-old daughter.
The pair has been named by authorities as Heather Preece, 37, and her husband Dustin Preece, 38.
Officials stated that they suspect Dustin killed his wife with a gun before committing suicide after studying the evidence and talking with the Medical Examiner.
The couple’s 16-year-old daughter found her parents dead at their Hyrum, Utah, home at 10 p.m. and called the authorities, according to the Cache County Sheriff’s Office.
Upon arrival, deputies and neighborhood workers discovered both victims had been shot dead.
Victim advocates are reportedly “working closely” with the affected teen.
The Sheriff’s Office released a statement saying, “This is a terrible incident that occurred in our peaceful community, but especially for the 16-year-old daughter who discovered the scene.” In order to provide her and the family the help they might require, victims’ advocates are collaborating closely with them.
