Elizabeth Williams Obituary News: Woman killed in shooting at Best Western on John Puryear Drive.
A person who was killed in a shooting over the weekend in western Kentucky has been named.
The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office detectives say that the victim is Elizabeth Williams from Possum Trot, Kentucky.
Williams worked at the Best Western hotel, which is where the shooting happened.
Robert Pannell, 55, of Palm Coast, Florida, was charged with first-degree murder, first-degree assault, two counts of fourth-degree assault, four counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, third-degree assault, menacing, second-degree disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.
On a $2 million bond, he is being kept in the McCracken County Jail. The court date for Pannell is February 28.
Around 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, McCracken County deputies and Paducah police responded to multiple 911 calls about a shooter at the Best Western on John Puryear Drive off of Exit 11.
Williams was shot in the head and body. A deputy got to the scene in two minutes and found her on the first floor of the building.
She was taken to a nearby hospital, but her injuries were too bad, and she died there.
Another officer found Pannell, who was later named as a possible suspect, and held him in the parking lot. After the search, no other victims or suspects were found.
