The man who was fatally shot at the DMAX manufacturing plant in Moraine on Thursday night has been identified by the police.
Reports of an active shooter at the DMAX plant on Dryden Road prompted a swift response from Moraine Police and Fire just before 9 p.m., as confirmed by Sgt. Andrew Parish of the police department.
According to Parish, the male suspect outside the facility was promptly located and identified by the first responding officers. According to sources, the suspect had sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head and was in need of immediate medical attention. However, the individual remained conscious and alert despite the severity of the injury.
Two shooting victims were discovered by officers and medics within the plant.
Jeffrey James Allen III, a 28-year-old resident of Dayton, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities.
Another male victim was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.
According to Parish, a preliminary inquiry has verified that the perpetrator and both individuals who were harmed were employed at DMAX Moraine.
As per Parish’s statement, investigators have concluded that the suspect engaged in a “domestic-related feud” with Allen over another female employee. The suspect allegedly shot Allen during an altercation that took place within the facility.
According to Parish, a fatal shooting occurred last night during a confrontation between two men. The suspect reportedly brandished a semiautomatic handgun and used it to fatally shoot Mr. Allen.
According to Parish, as of Friday morning, the suspect’s condition remains critical but stable at a local hospital. The identity of the individual has not yet been disclosed.
The facility has been shut down and operations have been suspended as police investigate the incident. DMAX Moraine remains closed until further notice.
On Friday morning, DMAX issued a revised statement regarding the shooting incident.
“We are deeply saddened by last night’s tragedy at the DMAX manufacturing facility in Moraine, Ohio. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims’ families and all those impacted by this incident. We are working with local authorities on the investigation. In the meantime, DMAX has canceled production until further notice. Additional details on the incident will be released by local law enforcement officials.” — Paul Tanis, plant director, DMAX Moraine.
News Center 7 Reporter Brandon Lewis spoke with a DMAX employee who was on the company’s premises when he heard “at least 10 or 12 shots.”
“I just took off” in the opposite direction, Brian Smith said. “I was scared.”
Smith worked at the plant for about 10 years and has never experienced an incident like this.
“I’m shook up,” Smith said, wondering how this could happen since the plant was a “great place to work at.”
News Center 7 will continue providing updates as new details become available.
