I’m so saddened by the news that my cousin Dennis Fields died on Friday. Dennis was born the day after I was and we always enjoyed each other’s company even though I kept telling him he needed to respect his elder.
Dennis was a wonderful storyteller and that comes through in the video. A longtime volunteer fire fighter, truck driver, drag racer and fantastic musician, Dennis loved Orleans and everyone there in that small town reciprocated that love. He once made this comment to me about small-town life: “we grew up in a place where if someone says “meet you at the stoplight,” everyone in the county knows were to meet.”
I’m really gonna miss hearing his fantastic deep twangy voice and our lifelong friendship that’s ended way too soon. RIP pal.
