Mike Currie Obituary – Cause of Death: Retired Chatham-Kent police officer Mike Currie dies unexpectedly.
According to an online obituary on Friday, October 14, 2022, Mike Currie died unexpectedly while travelling abroad. However, his cause of death was not disclosed.
Currie was a longtime Chatham-Kent police officer and retired in September of 2016. He was also a very active member of the community and deeply involved with the Torch Run for Special Olympics.
“It is with profound sadness that we mourn the loss of one of our original Torch Runners. Mike Currie was there from the start, 35 years ago,” Torch Run Ontario said in a statement. “Mike was a champion of inclusion and his endless work for the athletes of Special Olympics was an inspiration to all LETR members. Our thoughts are with the Currie family at this difficult time. Rest in peace Mike, a true Guardian of the Flame.”
