Lorin was not only beautiful, but had a heart of gold. She was always a joy to be around she was always sweet and helpful and was a great friend.

The two people who died in a head-on collision on SH 111 4½ miles east of Yoakum early Saturday are now identified as 18-year-old Lorin Gayle Miller of Shiner and Yoakum resident, 19-year-old Kolson Brock Jacobs.

The 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, driven by 18-year-old Yoakum resident Connor Jacobs Ratcliff and the 2018 Ford F-350, driven by Kolson Brock Jacobs collided at about 11:30 a.m., according to the authorities, said Sgt. Ruben San Miguel, a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety.

According to San Miguel, the Ford F-350 was drifting out of its westbound lane and into the path of the Silverado.

He said that Ratcliff’s Silverado came to rest in the shoulder of the eastbound lane facing northeast while Jacobs’ car rotated 360 degrees after impact and came to rest in a ditch on the east side of the road.

Justice of the Peace Hallie Hall pronounced Jacobs dead at the scene at 1:16 p.m. Lorin Gayle Miller, 18, of Shiner, was Lorin Jacobs’ passenger. She was driven to Yoakum Community Hospital, where Hall pronounced her dead at one o’clock in the afternoon.

Ratcliff was helicoptered to St. David’s Medical Center in Austin, where he was listed in critical but stable condition on Saturday, according to San Miguel.
