The Port Washington-Saukville School District released a statement concerning the incident on social media.
As many of you are aware, a threat was made on Port Washington High School today that required the evacuation of our students and staff at the building. Earlier this afternoon, we received the all-clear for Port Washington High School from the Port Washington Police Department. No active shooters or threats of any kind were found during the sweep of the building. High School students were transferred to the designated reunification site; and the remainder of the PWHS school day, including conferences and athletic events, have been cancelled. Information will be provided about when high school students can return to the building to retrieve their personal items.
We understand this incident may have impacted our students emotionally, and as such, our student services staff are prepared to support our students and discuss today’s events. Students are scheduled to be off tomorrow due to a staff professional development day. However, if students wish to come in tomorrow, staff will be available to meet with them.
We would like to share our appreciation for the quick response by the Port Washington Police Department. We can never be too cautious when it comes to the safety of our students and staff, and we appreciate the partnership with our community.
