Todd Wheaton Obituary News: Johnstown man killed in “tragic” snowmobile crash on Peck Lake in Bleecker.
Following a snowmobile accident on Peck Lake on Thursday night, one individual has died. Sheriff Richard Giardino of Fulton County reported that the call came in at 8 p.m. Todd Wheaton, a 42-year-old Johnstown resident, has been named as the victim.
When the incident happened, Wheaton was riding with two other close friends.
According to the sheriff, two of the three snowmobilers broke through the ice. Wheaton vanished into thin air.
With throw ropes, the other two sled riders attempted to save Wheaton, but they were unsuccessful. Emergency responders from the ENCON Police, State Fire Marshals, Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, and Saratoga County Dive Team were among those dispatched to the scene. A little over five hours later, the dive crew discovered Wheaton’s body.
