Leroy Peters Death – Obituary: In Loving Memory of LeRoy Lawrence Peters of Placerville, California: According to an online obituary on Tueday, February 7, 2023, Leroy Peters has passed away unexpectedly. However, cause of death was not disclosed.
On April 20, 1958, Pat Gindelberger and Leroy got married. She encouraged him to enroll in Purdue, where he graduated with a degree in Agricultural Engineering.
He began his career as an employee of New Idea in Coldwater, Ohio. Later, they relocated to the farm outside of Coldwater, where he farmed the land for several years while working and managing a Butler grain bin company. He accepted a position with Huffy’s Bicycle Corporation, where he spent 23 years. He was able to travel to various nations during this period. He started doing some contract work for Cooper Poultry Farms after retiring. In this case, he created a truck that would gradually rise, enticing the turkeys to leave it in safety and carefully.
He was a determined, diligent man who was fourth-generation German. He was never satisfied with the way things were. He was constantly seeking for ways to improve his farming practices and maximize productivity. He had a creative mind and was constantly thinking of new projects and ways to improve the farming machinery. When “no till” initially came into use, Dad had the guts to give it a try.
He did the same thing at work, looking for methods to perform his duties more effectively. Unfortunately, his novel approaches or techniques weren’t always well received. Leroy was happy to have the chance to frequently travel for work to the Orient and other regions of the world. When he was a child, this was unheard of. Since farming had been their way of life for many generations, his family never left the area. He was extremely proud of the fact that he was the first member of his family to ever earn a four-year degree.
Leroy was never happy to limit himself to simply these pursuits. He served on the Cheryl Ann Industries board for more than ten years. For more than 50 years, he served on the administrative board and the PR committee at Coldwater United Methodist Church. He also served on the Methodist church’s pastor approval committee for more than ten years. He wanted to try to change people’s lives, particularly because he was aware of what it was like to be unsupported.
Randy Peters of Charlotte, NC, Cheryl Gibson (Mike) of Lynchburg, VA, and Karen Hobbs (Brian) of Cherry Hill, NJ are the three children Leroy left behind. He also leaves behind five grandchildren: Mike Gibson, Will Gibson, Daniel Gibson, and Susan Gibson. Kate Fuhrman, his stepsister, died before him.
On Saturday, February 11, at 1pm, services will be place at Coldwater United Methodist Church. The church will be open for visits from 11:30 am to 1 pm. After the funeral, there will be a graveside service. Please send donations to Coldwater United Methodist Church, 310 W North St, Coldwater, OH 45828, in place of flowers.
