Scarsdale car accident: Five young family members killed in fiery car accident at Hutchinson River Parkway today.
Early on Sunday morning in Scarsdale, Westchester County, an automobile crash claimed the lives of five young family members, leaving only a 9-year-old boy to survive.
According to reports, six young siblings and cousins from Connecticut were traveling to Derby from a shopping when their Nissan Rogue swerved off the Hutchinson River Parkway in Scarsdale just before 12:30 a.m. on Sunday.
North of the Mamaroneck Road exit, the car struck a tree and caught fire, according to authorities.
The 16-year-old boy who was operating the car, according to Westchester County Police, may have dozed off.
The five that were slain were between the ages of eight and 17, authorities said.
