Brooklyn Car Accident: Driver arrested in Bensonhurst car accident that killed two; Vitaliy Konoplyov arrest & charges.
According to police, one of the drivers in a terrible car accident in Bensonhurst that resulted in two fatalities and numerous injuries has been charged with a crime.
According to authorities, Vitaliy Konoplyov, 49, is accused of manslaughter and being an aggravating unlicensed operator in connection with the fatal collision on Monday.
Around 12:45 p.m., Konoplyov’s 2015 Toyota Camry and a 2016 Honda HRV collided at the intersection of 18th Avenue and 64th Street, according to authorities. The white sedan slams into the side of the SUV and spins onto the sidewalk as debris flies through the air, as captured in shocking surveillance footage from the scene.
According to police, the collision sent both vehicles into a 60-year-old woman who was walking close by. According to authorities, the Toyota then continued into a 2021 Chevy Equinox that was traveling along 18th Avenue.
Both the pedestrian, 60, and the Honda’s 51-year-old driver were pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities. As of Tuesday morning, no one knew who they were.
Five more people were admitted to the hospital.
