An Idaho man who has previously received DUI convictions in Utah has been detained on suspicion of hitting another car head-on while driving with a blood alcohol level that is more than four times the legal limit for Utah on Wednesday.
In that crash, three persons died and two others suffered injuries. The Cache County Prison received a booking for Kylan H. Romrell, 29, of Montpelier, Idaho, for an investigation into three counts of careless driving that resulted in death or serious harm, DUI, possession of a weapon by a prohibited person, and having an open container of alcohol in his vehicle.
A Ford Excursion being driven by Romrell was struck by a Kia Rio traveling south on U.S. 89 in Logan Canyon at at 3:20 p.m. Both the Rio’s driver, 21, and the front passenger, 24, perished in the accident. Their names haven’t been made public yet.
Three additional Kia passengers were transferred to nearby hospitals. According to the Utah Highway Patrol, a passenger in the back seat passed away on the way to the hospital. When a guy was carried by medical helicopter to a nearby hospital in severe condition, a toddler who had been taken to another hospital was described as “stable.”
