In Texas over the weekend, a 12-year-old boy has been charged with murder for reportedly shooting a Sonic restaurant worker to death.
According to Keene Police Chief James Kidd, an incident occurred on Saturday night in Keene when a customer identified as Angel Gomez, 20, was confronted by Matthew Davis, 32, for urinating in the restaurant’s parking lot.
According to Kidd, during the confrontation, the juvenile suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed due to their age, pulled out an assault rifle from Gomez’s vehicle and fired six rounds at Davis, resulting in a physical altercation.
According to reports, Davis sustained multiple injuries and was transported to a medical facility via air ambulance. However, despite medical efforts, Davis ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
According to authorities, Gomez and the minor reportedly left the scene, but Gomez eventually returned. The child was later located in Rio Vista, approximately 14 miles away. Gomez and the boy have been arrested and charged with murder, according to official reports.

On Saturday evening, a shooting incident took place at a Sonic restaurant located on South Old Betsy Road in Keene, Texas. The restaurant is situated about 30 miles to the south of Fort Worth.
At a local Sonic, 20-year-old Angel Gomez arrived in a vehicle with several other passengers and proceeded to engage in disorderly behavior in the establishment’s parking lot. According to reports, Gomez was confronted by Matthew Davis, a 32-year-old employee at Sonic.
Keene Police Chief James Kidd reported that Davis approached Gomez after observing him urinating in the parking lot.
As per the police, the shooting occurrence at Keene’s Sonic restaurant seemed to be an isolated incident. According to sources, the incident was not driven by racial factors nor linked to any gang-related behavior.
Shortly after 9:30 p.m., the authorities were alerted to the scene. Upon arrival, officers found Matthew Davis in the parking lot, having suffered from several gunshot wounds.
Davis was then airlifted to Harris Methodist Hospital and later pronounced dead.
A fundraiser has been created to support the family of Matthew Davis, who had a 10-year-old son, and assist with funeral expenses. The fundraiser had already raised more than $10,000 by Tuesday.
In a statement, Sonic expressed its sorrow upon hearing about the incident involving one of its franchise team members in Keene, Texas.
The franchisee fully cooperates with the local authorities as they conduct their investigation.
A memorial has been established outside the Sonic Drive-In on Old Betsy Road in Keene, where flowers and a cross have been placed.
The memorial is growing in remembrance of Matthew Davis, a 32-year-old father and employee who tragically died in a shooting incident while working at the restaurant on Saturday night.
