Ronald Steven Banks Death: Hughesville, MD man charged in connection with fatal Tuesday afternoon shooting on Suitland Road | Wilson Chavis Arrest.
The guy who shot two persons at a Suitland cemetery, killing one of them, was charged by the Homicide Unit of the Prince George’s County Police Department. The suspect is Wilson Chavis, 48, of Hughesville, Maryland. He faces charges in connection with the shooting death of Washington, DC resident Ronald Steven Banks, 30. At a funeral service held at the cemetery, Banks served as a pallbearer.
Patrol officers responded to a shooting incident at a cemetery in the 4100 block of Suitland Road on June 6, 2023, around 1:20 p.m. Banks had been shot and was found wounded. He passed away in a hospital shortly after that. A grazing wound was sustained by the second victim, a female adult.
According to the first investigation, Chavis is the owner of the funeral home that was handling the funeral arrangements and burial at the cemetery for the small child. Chavis addressed two attendees of the funeral service as it was about to begin. Those people are connected to a different funeral home with which Chavis has a protracted legal conflict. Chavis was confronted by several mourners who were furious with him for his actions.
According to the first findings of the inquiry, Chavis pulled out a revolver and shot both victims twice. He then drove away from the graveyard. After watching Chavis for a while, a Morningside Police Department officer pulled over his vehicle. The man was detained.
First- and second-degree murder, attempted first- and second-degree murder, and other accusations are brought against Chavis. The Department of Corrections is guarding him.
