Harry Reeder Obituary News – Car Accident: Briarwood Presbyterian Church senior pastor killed in Birmingham, AL crash.
The Rev. Harry Reeder III, a longtime senior pastor at Briarwood Presbyterian Church, was killed in a collision on Thursday morning in Shelby County.
On Dunnavant Valley Road, close to Dunnavant Place, the collision occurred at 10:01 a.m. According to the authorities, Reeder’s car struck the back of a dump truck that was stopped for a turn.
Shelby County Coroner Lina Evans has confirmed that Reeder, 75, was declared deceased at the scene.
Since the Rev. Frank Barker, the founding pastor of Briarwood, left the pulpit in 1999, Reeder has been the church’s senior pastor. Reeder’s promotion to senior pastor was supervised by Barker.
“On behalf of the GRN Council, I am deeply saddened and heartbroken to report that our dear friend and brother, Harry Reeder, died this morning in a car accident in Birmingham, Alabama,” Jon D. Payne said in a statement. “We are all devastated by the news, but trusting in our good and faithful Father. His family, friends, and church, along with the GRN Council, WTS, and numerous other ministries will not be the same without him. Harry was larger than life, and his ministry impacted tens of thousands around the world. Now he stands in the glorious presence of the Prince of Life– his crucified, risen, and exalted Savior. There’s no place he’d rather be. We will miss him greatly. We love you, Harry.”
