Brandon Mills Harrisonburg Walmart Shooting – Obituary News: 35-year-old Rockingham man identified as suspect shot and killed in a deputy-involved shooting at Harrisonburg Walmart on Sunday evening.
The Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation Culpeper Field Office is looking into a shooting involving a deputy in the City of Harrisonburg at the request of the Rockingham County Sheriff.
The incident started on Sunday, June 4, about 8:00 p.m., when the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Emergency Center got a 911 call reporting a person acting erratically and threatening workers inside the Walmart in Harrisonburg, which is located on the 100 block of Burgess Road. When deputies from the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Harrisonburg Police Department arrived on the scene, the suspect charged at them right away. A officer with the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office fired and hit the suspect. Officers provided medical assistance right away.
The suspect, 35-year-old Rockingham, Virginia resident Brandon S. Mills, was taken to Sentara RMH Medical Center with life-threatening wounds, where he eventually passed away. The Office of the Medical Examiner in Manassas has received his remains for examination and autopsy.
No members of the public or law enforcement personnel were hurt in the event.
At the site, a knife was found. The probe is still open and running.
