The family of Abby Lutz, one of the two Americans who were discovered dead in Mexico on Tuesday, stated on Thursday that they thought she and her boyfriend perished from vacation-related carbon monoxide poisoning.
According to the state attorney in Baja, the two were discovered in a hotel room in the town of El Pescadero on the Baja California peninsula in Mexico.
The man’s identity has not been made public.
The pair died as a result of drug intoxication, according to the preliminary results of the forensic investigation.
Authorities told Lutz’s family that the couple may have died from carbon monoxide poisoning as a result of inadequate ventilation, the family of Lutz stated in their GoFundMe campaign for burial expenditures.
