Carol Wright Obituary News: American Airlines Flight Attendant Passes Away Following an Emergency landing in Dublin
When one of the flight attendants passed away in front of her terrified coworkers, the jet had to make an emergency landing in Dublin.
Last week, Carol Wright, an American Airlines flight attendant, unexpectedly passed out shortly after takeoff from Italy on a journey from Venice to Philadelphia.
On June 21, the captain declared a medical emergency and the cabin crew made “valiant efforts” to save her life before diverting the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner to Dublin.
After the jet landed in Dublin, airport fire departments and paramedics greeted it. Carol was then brought to a nearby hospital, where she was tragically declared dead, according to the Mirror.
Shauns Aviation, a purported “aviation journalist,” took pictures of the aircraft as it landed in Dublin due to an emergency.
Two Dublin Airport Fire and Rescue cars escorted the American Airlines plane to the runway before it took off in order to return her remains to her family in Philadelphia.
“It is with great sadness that we share the sudden passing of PHL-based Flight Attendant and Purser Carol Wright while working a flight this morning,” stated an internal American Airlines memo that was posted on Twitter.
“Carol started her professional career with American Airlines 38 years ago, and she cherished both her line of work and the many friendships she made. She was a joy to work with and to support, according to those who knew her.
Please know that while any unexpected death is heartbreaking, we are taking care of the coworkers who were traveling with Carol. Along with helping to bring Carol home, we are in touch with her family and will meet their needs and offer whatever assistance they require.
People used Twitter to share their experiences working with Carol and on the plane.
“Was on this flight and it was all very sad,” Dylan Biles said. My thoughts are with her family and the crew who worked with her that day.
“Those of us who had the pleasure of working with Carol are devastated,” said Denise Olivencia.
The flight was due to take off from Marco Polo Airport in Venice at 12:15 and touch down at Philadelphia International Airport at 3:31. It left Venice and arrived in Dublin slightly over 2.5 hours later.
