Mateo Godinez-Vallejo Obituary News: Sacramento teen identified as victim in Vacaville homicide.
Officers responded to numerous reports of gunfire being heard in the 100 block of Meadows Drive on May 11 at around 6:30 o’clock. When police arrived, they discovered a 16-year-old male juvenile who had been shot. The child has been identified as Sacramento resident Mateo Godinez-Vallejo, 16 years old. Officers treated Godinez-Vallejo until he was taken to a nearby hospital, where he eventually passed away from his wounds and was declared dead.
Detectives discovered during the inquiry that Godinez-Vallejo and a 17-year-old male juvenile who lives in Vacaville got into a fight before the shooting. After the altercation, shots were fired at Godinez-Vallejo and the 17-year-old boy at some time. Early in this investigation, the 17-year-old was admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment of his gunshot wound.
Detectives detained the 17-year-old male juvenile for PC 187(a) murder and PC 246.3(a) unauthorized discharge of a firearm on the evening of May 12. He was lodged in Solano County Juvenile Hall upon his hospital discharge.
Another 16-year-old male juvenile was also involved in the shooting, the detectives discovered. Detectives detained the 16-year-old male juvenile, who is also a resident of Vacaville, on May 15 at noon for PC 664/187 attempted murder and PC 246.3(a) unauthorized discharge of a handgun. He was turned over to the juvenile hall in Solano County.
