The 14th murder victim in Topeka has been identified as a 55-year-old local man.
The Topeka Police Department identified Troy Shepard, 55, of Topeka as the 14th homicide victim in the Capital City on Wednesday, April 19.
Tuesday, just after 3 p.m., officials were summoned to the 900 block of 17th St. on reports of a shooting. Here they discovered Shepard with a life-threatening gunshot wound.
Shepard was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased by medical personnel.
Officials were also notified of a gunshot in the 1600 block of Buchanan, but it is unknown whether the two incidents are related.
