Washington was a single mother working at Brookstown Middle Magnet Academy in Baton Rouge. She was popular among school staff and students and was once even named Teacher of the Year at a school she had formerly worked.
How did Lyntell Washington die?
A 3-year-old child was discovered walking by herself in a Baton Rouge, Louisiana, parking lot in June 2016 close to a blood-spattered car. Her foot was covered in dried blood and she was not wearing any shoes.
She was kept under control by a good Samaritan as he dialed 911 for assistance.
According to authorities, Washington’s body was found a week later in an irrigation ditch at a sugar cane field.
Investigators said she was shot in the head and her body was dumped in the ditch later.
