Isaiah Cordero Obituary News: Riverside County Sheriff Deputy Shot and Killed in Rubidoux.
Authorities have verified that a deputy in Southern California was shot and killed on Thursday in the early afternoon. The suspect was then chased by police and shot and killed by them.
According to the sheriff’s office, a Riverside County Sheriff’s officer was shot shortly before 2:00 p.m. local time after stopping a car in Jurupa Valley. He later passed away from his wounds.
According to Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco, the deputy was identified as 32-year-old Isaiah Cordero, a veteran of the agency with eight years of service. Cordero attempted to pull over a driver and as he approached the vehicle, the suspect pointed a gun and shot Cordero, report says.
The suspect, later identified as William Shae McKay.
McKay was later located in San Bernardino County and when deputies attempted to approach him, he fled, triggering a pursuit.
The suspect car crashed and became disabled along the 15 Freeway in Norco, putting a violent stop to the pursuit that spanned from San Bernardino to Riverside counties.
At the conclusion of the pursuit, McKay allegedly fired several shots at deputies, according to Sheriff Bianco. Deputies opened fire in response, hitting McKay.
