Legendary actress Stella Stevens, best known for “The Poseidon Adventure,” died at the age of 84 on Friday, February 17, 2023, an online obituary announced. Stella’s son, actor Andrew Stevens, says she’d been suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.
Stella born Estelle Eggleston, began her acting career in 1959 and starred in such popular films as Girls! Girls! Girls! (1962), The Nutty Professor (1963), The Courtship of Eddie’s Father (1963), The Silencers (1966), Where Angels Go, Trouble Follows (1968), The Ballad of Cable Hogue (1970), and The Poseidon Adventure (1972).
She was married to Noble Herman Stephens from 1954, when she was 16, until their divorce in 1957. This union produced her only child, Andrew Stevens in 1955.
