Jennifer Hughes Death – According to the Otoe County Sheriff’s Office, a 37-year-old woman from Lincoln was killed on Friday near Palmyra after another vehicle collided with her vehicle as she turned across Nebraska 2 just west of the town of Palmyra. The collision occurred as the woman was traveling west of Palmyra in Otoe County.
At approximately 3:30 in the afternoon, the vehicle driven by Jennifer Hughes was struck while she was crossing the highway’s westbound lane in an attempt to turn east onto Nebraska 2. Friday, the sheriff’s office stated in a news release that the investigation is ongoing.
When the collision occurred, Hughes’ vehicle was turning from the southbound lane of Nebraska 43 onto the westbound lane of Nebraska 43. The driver of the westbound car, Dwaine Rogge, was 84 years old and was from Lincoln.
At the site, Hughes’s death was confirmed by medical personnel. According to the sheriff’s office, she was not wearing a seat belt when the accident occurred.
Rogge was transported to the hospital in a Lincoln by ambulance. It is not apparent what his condition is.
The authorities do not have any reason to believe that drinking played a role in the collision.
