After a police pursuit ended in a crash in the early hours of Tuesday morning, a major South London route has been closed for more than eight hours. On March 13 at around 11.49 p.m. in Croydon’s Kent Gate Way, a marked police car was on normal patrol when a BMW vehicle left the area.
Addington’s Gravel Hill A212 is where the car was discovered shortly after it had crashed with another vehicle. The only occupant of the second vehicle, a Vauxhall Mokka, was a 39-year-old male who was rushed to St. George’s Hospital in Tooting with critical injuries that could have permanently altered his life.
Two female passengers in the BMW that sped away from the police have been detained on suspicion of reckless driving. They were sent to the hospital to receive treatment for minor wounds.
The area around the crime site at Gravel Hill is currently off limits. Due to the complete stoppage of nearby traffic, rush-hour commuters will now experience significant delays.
