Jordan, MN Car Accident: Jordan High School sophomore killed in Sand Creek Township crash.
A crash near Jordan, Minnesota, occurred on Thursday night, leaving one youngster dead and three others hurt.
The driver, a 17-year-old kid, lost control on a gravel road in Sand Creek Township, according to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, and a 16-year-old boy was thrown from the car and later declared dead. The car flipped onto its side after colliding with a power pole. Just before 9:00 p.m., police received a report of the collision.
According to the sheriff’s office, the collision left the driver, a 16-year-old boy, and two 16-year-old passengers with non-critical injuries. Investigators then discovered that while the victim was not wearing a seatbelt, the three surviving youths were.
“Last night’s tragic car crash, claiming the life of a young passenger who was not wearing a seatbelt, is a painful reminder of the importance of this simple safety measure,” Scott County Sheriff Luke Hennen said in a statement. “Let’s work together to prevent such tragedies and ensure the well-being of our young drivers and passengers on our roads.”
Jordan Public Schools Superintendent Ranae Case Evenson confirmed the victim was a sophomore at Jordan High School in a statement Friday and offered “thoughts and condolences” to the teen’s family and friends.
