Brian Noel Obituary News: San Diego man identified as victim in fatal Friday morning shooting near Petco Park.
A 53-year-old man who was fatally shot last week during an early-morning fight in a neighborhood close to Petco Park was publicly identified by authorities on Tuesday.
Police said that soon before 6 a.m. on Friday, patrol officers responding to reports of shooting discovered San Diego resident Brian Noel suffering from chest wounds in the 1600 block of Logan Avenue in Barrio Logan.
Noel was transported by paramedics to a hospital, but was declared dead not long after his arrival, according to Lt. Steve Shebloski.
Uncertainty surrounds the nature of the conflict between the victim and the killer, who has only been identified as a male.
What is known is that the victim engaged in some sort of verbal altercation just before being shot, according to Shebloski. After the victim was shot, a number of people—including the shooter—left the scene on foot.
