Nika Nicole Holbert Obituary: In loving memory of woman killed in a 2021 shootout during a traffic stop in Nashville.
A gunfire occurred during a traffic check in Nashville on Friday morning, according to Metro Police, injuring an officer and a woman. Nika Nicole Holbert, a 31-year-old lady, subsequently passed away in a local hospital.
The incident allegedly took place at around 9:30 a.m. in the parking lot of a Dollar General store on Brick Church Pike, close to Ewing Drive.
Officer Josh Baker stopped a black Chevrolet Camaro whose owner had six outstanding narcotics warrants, according to MNPD spokesman Don Aaron. Although she wasn’t the car’s owner, he claimed Holbert was the driver.
Aaron claimed that after a while, things got out of hand and Holbert started shooting. Baker opened fire in response, and they were both hit. Aaron claimed that Holbert wrecked around Brick Church Pike and Moorewood Drive after the incident.
After having surgery, Baker was brought to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where his status is now stable. After being transported to TriStar Skyline Medical Center, Holbert passed away.
