Trooper Jacques Rougeau Obituary News: In loving memory of Pennsylvania State Trooper Jacques F. Rougeau Jr. killed in Juniata County shooting.
On June 17, two Pennsylvania State Police officers were shot in Juniata County. Jacques “Jay” Rougeau Jr., a trooper, passed away as a result of his wounds. Rougeau was a native of Corry.
The other trooper was injured severely and taken to a nearby hospital.
According to a police complaint, a man shot a trooper in Mifflintown Borough at around 12:45 p.m. The trooper was taken to a nearby hospital after being gravely hurt.
Shortly after 3 p.m., the shooter was discovered in Walker Township near Swamp Road and Baumgardner Drive. He and the troopers engaged in gunfire. Rougeau and the shooter were both fatally shot during the exchange.
Rougeau played basketball at Corry Area High School, where he graduated in 2012. In 2014, he served as an intern with the Corry City Police Department.
On Sunday, June 18th, in accordance with the United States flag code, Governor Josh Shapiro ordered Commonwealth flags on all Commonwealth facilities, public buildings, and grounds across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to fly at half-staff immediately in honor of Pennsylvania State Trooper Jacques F. Rougeau Jr., who died in the line of duty.
